About the location
Nariño is a Volcano region in the southwest corner of Colombia, near the border with Ecuador. This area is well known for its national park, gorgeous landscapes, and interesting history.
The unique temperature and humidity of the region further enhance growing conditions and in particular retention of the parchment on the beans to prevent their early ageing.
Producers in this region are typically small landholders, directly responsible for managing all aspects of production including harvesting by hand, floating them in cool clean water to remove the low-density beans prior to pulping and using their own patios for drying. Due to the lower humidity, the Nariño region is blessed with some of the best drying conditions found in Colombia.
